I switched to ferodo ds2500 and am very very happy.
Hawk hps vs akebono ceramic.
Akebono s are low dust but they really lack bite.
They do creak squeak a little bit when braking at.
I m hopeing to order some new brakes next week and i m stuck between the hawk hps pads and hawk ceramic pads.
Which to me is a small price to pay for excellent braking feel and can be substantially reduced by using a ceramic or other low dust pad.
My akebono ceramics have been nice.
Hawk hps vs akebono euro ceramic.
I hear the hps are louder and give off a ton more brake dust.
My criteria in order of preference are.
Quite happy with hawk hps.
I m looking for new brake pads and am debating between hawk hps vs akebono euro ceramic.
I kindda narrowed down to two choices and am certainly open to others but i would value all thoughts on the the hawks hps vs the akebono ceramic.
They produced a ton of dust on the track but on the street they don t dust much at all.
If hps is cheaper there is no question to get the hps over the ceramics.
Low dust i was hoping to get some input from people who have used either pad.
They just stop no squeeking no squealing no fading from triple digit slow downs just stop like a pad should.
Perform like oem with much less dust and no squealing.
Hawk hps brakes are known to be good for street application and you can take to 1 or 2 track days but definitely not for heavy track use at all.
Slightly more dust but well worth it for initial bite and stopping power i am putting hawk hps on my s4 for the best combo of.
If you even take it once to a track day you might invest in upgrading to steel braided lines.
I hear mixed thoughts about both.
Equal or better stopping power vs oem 2.
I had them on my a4.
Ceramics are ultra low dust but need to be hot to work well and they don t bite well for my taste.
They are only about 6k miles old but dusting is all but nil so far.
Get hawk hps or the akebono.
